Ian Frazer, born on July 11, 1933, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, later moved to Leeds, attended Leeds Modern School, and graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 1958. While there, he met fellow artist Ray Fawcett and Anna Dubenska, whom he married in 1962.
Initially living in Chiswick, London, they later moved to Shepperton, which was a quiet, rural village in the 1960s. Ian's love for the outdoors, bird watching, and fishing started at an early age, and he continued these passions throughout his life.

In 1970, Ian became a visiting Professor of Art at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where he explored the Midwest landscape. He later drew parallels with the Thames Valley near London.
From the early 1970s, Ian sketched the Shepperton landscape, recording changes and the quality of light, leading to the Suburban Landscapes series. The family also enjoyed fossil hunting in Lyme Regis during winter visits.
In 1978, they bought a cottage in Dorset, creating a beautiful garden. Ian's exploration of the Dorset landscape inspired his Tranquil Gardens series.
In December 1984, the family sold their Shepperton home and Dorset cottage, moving to Shimpling, Suffolk. Ian prepared for retirement as a full-time artist, developing a series of paintings for the commercial market.
In September 1986, they moved to Muswell Hill, London, near Middlesex Art School. However, in October, Ian was diagnosed with melanoma and sadly passed away on December 31, 1986, at the age of 53.
