Painter, printmaker, illustrator and ceramic artist. Born Middlesbrough, he studied at Middlesbrough College of Art, 1956-59 and the Slade School, 1960-62 from where he was awarded a French Government Scholarship with which he studied with Stanley Hayter at Atelier 17, Paris, 1963. He has taught drawing and lithography at Central School of Art, 1964-70. He also held teaching posts at the Bath Academy of Art, 1964-72 and Watford School of Art, 1970-73. He was also a visiting lecturer at various institutions, including Rhode Island School of Design, USA, and Reading University. In 1981 he was awarded British Council Travel Grant and was Artist in Residence at Melbourne University, Australia, 1981-82.
